    OS: Windows Vista Buisness Edition
    Device: Zen Vision M

Hi guys, I recently got a Creative Zen Vision M and It does not work on my Vista Laptop.

I plug in the Zen, the "installing device driver" icon comes up in the system tray, after a few moments it says "driver install failed."

It doesn't recognise the device at all afterwards.
    Please Help.

I had this problem, think it's USB related on vista, but I upgraded the Creative software and usb drivers for my Vaio

Try downgrading your version of windows media player to ten. It synchs up with that (and not the later versions.....for some strange reason!).

The only helpful link I've found is the following http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/player/11/readme.aspx whereby it goes through how to rollback to Media player ten.

Okay, I went into Device Manager in Control Panel. The player shows up there and when I go to Update driver, windows just says that the ideal driver has already been installed (MTP).

Rolling back WMP didn't do anything....

I am only getting this problem on my laptop, I tried it on a desktop and it worked just fine.

    Please help me.

    frustrated-guy,
Hey, my name’s Cody, and I’m working with the Windows Vista Outreach Team to help folks answer any Vista questions or concerns they might have. I see you’re having some issues with your new mp3 player, and while I’m definitely no technical support expert, I’ll hopefully be able to get you pointed in the right direction.
Other users who have had problems similar to yours often run into them because of some compatibility issues relating to drivers, and the “driver install failed” message you’ve gotten leads me to believe that your automatic driver install is, well, failing. A good first step might be to manually install those drivers in question.
Here’s how to find them- Microsoft has set up a compatibility center at http://www.microsoft.com/windows/compatibility that will let you search for your particular mp3 player to see if it is Vista-compatible (it should be) or if there have been any recent updates (drivers, software, etc.). I noticed that Creative has a Vista support page as well, at http://us.creative.com/support/vista/ I’d look around those two places to see if you can find the proper drivers to manually install.
Let me know if either of these resources are particularly helpful to you. If you still can’t get your player working, please let me know and I can try and recruit some more specifically technical help in order to get this problem fixed!
    Thanks,
    Cody
