Hi folks, unregistered for this one - so here goes:

Was dating a girl toward the start of this year - I was quite keen but I had no idea if she was or not. After several dates she broke it off (after what I thought was quite a good night).

Now I am, shall we say, quite reserved and she seemed quite a sociable person - but I do thaw out fairly quickly after one or two dates. What put me off here was that she seemd kind of 'jumpy' around me and didn't make much eye contact when we talked (I would be into direct eye contact when I talk to someone - not staring tho!!), and other little things like not switching her phone off during dates etc. Anywho, I accepted her reason, told her it was unfortunate 'cos I did like her, but thanked her for letting me know.

Cue several months of no contact until she arrived at a social function I was attending. I played it (very) cool with the result that she made a point of coming up to talk to me several times during the night, even interrupting a conversation twice (drink was had at this stage). I eventually left the pub for home, and she followed me out and we both went back to mine.

I met her the following week, and told her if she wanted I'd go for a drink with her sometime. I didn't want to start chasing her again because she initiated the breakup last time. Since then we've texted (the very odd) occasion but nothing more.

Just looking for opinions here - I really can't figure out what (if anything) is going on with her because unfortunately I will be running into her from time to time in the future.

Looks like she was just looking for a ride.

    Useless. Ignore her.

Sounds like she could be attached already, long distance relationship, affair with a married man, something sort of part-time thats not totally fulfilling her.

You could be the scratch the itch man!

I agree with Wagon. She was looking for the ride. She may in the future too, which is why she still texts you. Accept that she doesn't want this going anywhere, but one night stands, and move on...

If like you said "you were acting cool" that night you met her again it could be a case of she wants what she cant have?

I wouldn't waste much time thinking about her if she can drop you so randomly.

Get one over on her and just dont text her. She knows your keen and interested and as demonstrated at the social function - she can have you whenever she wants you. Give her the cold shoulder for once!! Be a man!!!

Eh am I the only person here who thinks maybe she just didn't think she liked the OP originally, then maybe had a re-think, or thought he was a nice guy or whatever?

Sometimes people do regret decisions and look for a do-over, doesn't necessarily mean she's trying to use the OP< or that she's with someone already.

OP, why not meet her a drink and see how it goes? If she's being aloof or whatever, then just don't meet her again, if she's only after a night of fire, well it's up to you whether or not you want to partake, and if she seems genuinely interested then happy days.

Yes you are the only one :)

She has only sent a few texts since. Doesnt sound like she's that into him.

Angry Badger you need to read the book....Hes just not that into you!

Get a clear insight into this girl. She just isnt that into him. If she was regretting her decision why not agree straight off to go for a drink with OP?? instead of a few texts since?

Being a man does not mean you start playing games. Being a man does not mean you give someone the cold shoulder and being a man means that you accept that you've made an effort. If she was interested, she would have made alot more effort in her attempts of contact.

    BE a man, move on.

Being a man means all those things but more importantly being a man means standing up to her, she cant just pick him up and put him down whenever she sees fit. So by "be a man" i simply meant move on and drop her. Be the one to not reply to her texts this time. And he can come out feeling the better for it.

In an ideal world, I'd love to think that she'd had a change of heart, regretted her decision and was looking a do-over (mainly because I'm kinda hoping for something similar myself), but ultimately, you have to admit this is probably the least likely scenario.

So, unless you can identify that she has had a change of heart quickly, move on.

Thanks for the replies folks, reckon I'll 'man-up' & move on.

Unfortunately I did like her (once) but I'm beginning to think she's not all that nice a person.
