What things in your life are you particularly proud of? real LIFE accomplishments?

im not talking about "that wan bird i got with..." (impending "yore ma" joke....lets have it)

I mean things which you really truely are proud of, things you can justify your life over.

I really cant think of anything that im perticularly proud of.... a bit worrying

I feel that every day I get through work without punching somebody is an achievement.

    Hooray me!

Think probably the travelling I've done and the friends I've made.
    Full drivers licence :D

Is a degree an achievement? Considering how little work I put into it I'm not really proud of it anyways...

Promotions I've gotten because I was seen as the best candidate even though I know there were better candidates who just did worse interviews.

    Grrreat!

ah, think bigger! i mean its cool having gotten yourself a degree and all. but lots of people have done that. its a pretty ubiquitious achievment.

like i passed my driving test after 6 days of driving, im proud of that, but i wouldnt class it a life achievment!

saving someones life like, travelling the world "where the hell is matt" style, being the best of the best at something, i dunno. i find it hard to think of things. maybe i have this notion that everyone is supposed to do something amazing. maybe i have a notion IM supposed to do something amazing.

something youv done that seperates you from the rest of the herd. its hard to think of, but im sure SOME of you have something

Got through college with 2 degrees, met my wife, built the house of my dreams...and more to come.

I wish I could add giving up smoking to that but not yet ;)

    Been there don't that too.

Achievements are very subjective. What you may consider an achievement may not be what I consider one.

I've about 1800 achievement points on xbl

My neighbour called into me in hysterics saying her elderly friend had collapsed. I ran into her house and saw her lying facedown on the floor in a pool of her own vomit. My neighbour had panicked and just run off and left her when it occured. I quickly looked over the situation and put her sitting up against my lap in case it was a heart attack. Then, using my fingers I cleared her airways of a big ball of sputum.

Phoned ambulance while cradling her in a pool of her browny, bloody vomit. Seemed to take ages for an ambulance to arrive and I spent the time talking to her and rubbing her arms to try and keep her warm. I remember the operator asked me to dig out any pills she had but when I looked in her hand bag all she had was a firelog. I remember that, more than the situation, made me want to cry.

Yeah, well, she died anyway. Apparently it was some sort of embolism and there really was no hope but I like to think I made her last couple of minutes a bit better than it would have been otherwise.

    I'm quite proud of that.

    She wasn't conscious was she?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,698 ✭✭✭Dinter

    She wasn't conscious was she?

She was making sounds but I wouldn't have said she was concious, no. She could have been dead already tbh but when you're showering old woman vomit off you and knowing you can never wear your favorite jeans again it's nice to think you helped somehow.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,449 ✭✭✭Call Me Jimmy

Ah yea fair play for trying to help but in my opinion I'de say it made no difference to her.

Apart from getting married and all that the following is my list of achievments so far.

Reaching the top of mountains on the back of an elephant in thailand, diving the great barrier reef, diving off a 110M cliff in New Zealand, climbing through the tunnels in Cu Chi. My goal is to get to all continents before thirty but money is standing in the way of that.

This stuff is cool but hardly an achievment unless your afraid of water, heights and are clostraphobic.

    The usual 4/5 qualifications/degrees
Proud to have owned house by age of 23

But I think its the other things
-loosing nearly 5+ stone in weight
-attaining 2nd place in Ireland for exams
-having a painting I did when I was 9 go on exhibition around Ireland and Asia
-pride at achievements of my family - 2 sisters college PHD's (nerds), parents for riasing 'normal' people etc
    -having good friends
-having a v sexy bf who respects me for me (hard as it is)
-full time job/part time study etc and all the stress that goes with that
-OH OH best of all getting rid of my credit card bills n loans + have some (v small) savings for first time in YEARS

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,314 ✭✭✭Marcus.Aurelius

2 primary degrees and almost finished PhD. Promotion in my job. Buying house in Thailand for retirement, buying house here with my brother.

Some acheivements in my job have made me proud of both my colleagues and myself, we have had some great moments helping decent people with genuine problems move on in their lives. :)

I know I have achieved things (degree, house, good job, etc.), but I don't think any of them are major achievements though. Guess it's all subjective.

I saved my mates life who then went on to save another mates life, So i'm pretty proud that because of me two of my mates are still alive

I'd have to say travelling at a young age, jumping out of a plane, bungee jumping and owning my own home would be up there for me. I'd like to add a shark cage one day.

Do you actually own the house or have a mortgage? If you own it I'd love to know how you pulled that of at 23?
