Open Office Excel Question

Hi all i've put Open Office on a laptop but i want the Excel thing in it to save the files as .xls by default, whereas is saves them as .ods by default which can't be read by Microsoft Excel. I've looked in options on the Open Office but i wont give me the option to save files as .xls, anyone know if there's anyway around…

I've looked in options on the Open Office but i wont give me the option to save files as .xls, anyone know if there's anyway around this ? Also when i manually save the files as .xls it gives me a warning saying the file might not work type of thing.

Just save them manually in .xls

Ignore the warning, they open perfectly in Excel. works for me anyway.

or you could use save as

you'd have to do the same thing to read office 2007 docs in earlier versions of office anyway
