I have a ps3 aswell so thats whats making me feel like its a piece of gimmicky crap.
In the games i tried winter sports 2008 and sonic both of them had sucky sucky graphics even worse than the ps2 and basically all you do is flap the nunchuk and remote up and down to do anything.

Anything im doing wrong or how are you meant to play the wii, just dont see whats so great about it now that i bought it

Get Super Smash Bros Brawl and Mario Kart Wii and a GameCube control. These are two of the best games for the Wii and you can use the GC control with them which IMO is much better than the Wiimote.

Graphics are not the point with Wii. Gameplay, and making gaming more accessible are.

If the PS3 and Xbox360 have proven anything it's that good graphics don't make a good game.

Play Wii Sports to get a feel for how to use the Wiimote - particularly bowling. Most of the fun of the wii is playing with a group of people - it's a bit of change if you're a traditional, "It's my turn now" gamer. :)

Mario Kart Wii, Super Mario Galaxy and Zelda are great games though for single player.

I agree had the Wii for 3 days and sold it for same price I bought it. Biggest load of ****e ever! Its a kids console or maybe a party console but the controlers are so inaccurate that you cant even do that properly.

In saying that I can see how people with little time these days just want a console you can just instant play straight into the game. For that its good but would could actually play a Wii on their own??

Ummm... maybe buy a decent f**king game??!?
Winter Sports 2008? (Never heard of it)
Sonic? (has there every been a good 3d sonic game on ANY console?)

Don't blame your bad first impressions because you don't know what games are good and what games aren't.

Buy Metroid Prime 3. Buy Zelda Twilight Princess. Buy Super Mario Galaxy. Buy Boom Blox. Buy No More Heroes. Buy Resident Evil 4.

Don't buy a crappy Winter sports game (Average Score 52) or a bloody 3D sonic game.... jesus.

Sonic and the Secret Rings was pretty decent actually, it was one of the games that stopped me from selling my Wii due to the shortage of games after lauch.
From the original post though, it kind of sounds like he got Sonic & Mario at the Olympics...

While I agree that the Wii is a piece of poo, you should still give it a chance and play some of the triple A titles.

There was a time when I would of stood up for the wii but all I ever use it for now is to play old gamecube games.
Most popular nintendo console in a long time but also the worst. Not a game that interests me in sight.

obvious (and terrible) attempt at Wii trolling

you've got the wrong games man. Get the right games and it's great. Seems like your mind is made up by some of the worst games on it. Same could be said if you got a PS3 with the worst games. Although maybe the graphics after coming from PS3 could be hard to stomach.

LOL just like I could say the PS3 is a pile of steaming turd if I bought The Golden Compass and IronMan to play on it.

    Trolllllll.

    Don't feed the trolls!

Also, if you're that bloody stupid to buy 2 low core games such as Sonic and Fecking Winter Sports then you don't deserve to own a console! Get the real games, Super Mario Galaxy, Brawl, Okami, No more Heroes, then you have the right to decide if it's a good console or not.

Do your very best to return it for a full refund, as fast as possible.

Biggest mistake I have made in terms of consoles was buying the Wii,

    Does nothing but gather dust....

Nintendo sold out, not that anyone could blame them, $$ talks....

    DAMN!

was planning on buying a wii and the weekend (getting wii fit, and mario racing with it) all this talk has put me off getting it.

Have to say mine got boring after the first month.. Tried a lot of games, zelda, sonic and the secret rings, excite truck.. etc, Didn't like any of them for more than a day or so. Wario was fun but finished it in an hour.. Sold the wii after that haven't looked back.

Just everyone's different.. I guess the games are a lot better now though than in 2007.

I have a PS3 and XBox 360 and the missus is constantly at me to stop playing to go get some exercise.

I was thinking of gettin a Wii and Wii Fit (who came up with the name?)

Problem solved, I get to exercise and play video games at the same time!!

Seriously though, I've only played the sports games in someone elses house and I could see it as something that would gather dust in the corner when the noveltly wore off.

I can't comment on any other games but I found the controller system to be totally useless. You swing it around and it's pot luck if you hit anything.

Bought a Wii in February of last year.. sold it last October for about €400 (had a good few games with it) and went and bought a XBox 360 GoW pack in Tesco (and got 50% back in Clubcard vouchers) - best decision I ever made!

Seriously, Wtf, If you only think of playing those sort of games then of course they'll suck. You really think they put much effort into Wii Sports, it came free with the console for Christ's Sake, just something to give the casual gamers. And Wii Fit? Are you joking me? You'd get fitter sitting on the couch. Seriously no one can say it's a crap console without playing at least 2-3 of the following: Super Mario Galaxy, Zelda, Okami, No More Heroes, etc. Ive had my Wii since launch, never had any problems with it, nor have I ever regretted buying it.

    controllers are only unresponsive if
    a) u dont give urself time to learn how to use them right for each game
    b) the batteries are weak
    c) you've lots of shiny surfaces and candles/lights confusing them

mario kart wii has me totally hooked, cant stop playing it. Mario galaxy is awesome.

The only saving grace for my Wii is Resident Evil 4. That's it. Great game though.

I have Galaxy, Zelda, (Okami on PS2) No more heroes, SSBM, Mario Kart.... the so called best games on the console,

And for the most part they are great yes,

    But.... thats it...

After you're done with the above, its a useless console, there are far more great GC games than Wii games unfortunately.

The only time i use my wii now is for GC stuff.

If someone offered me the face value for the wii now i would take their hand and all

It's not really Nintendos fault that the Wii hasn't a great line up. They have given us a lot of top quality games, far more than Sony and Microsoft have provided. It's the lack of third party support that is letting them down. Same happened with the N64 and GC. It just seems to be worse on the Wii. Also it's not like there aren't any great games on the Wii. There's a rake of excellent games that nobody has bought. I'd say any of the moaners haven't tried No More Heroes, Boom Blox, Zak and Wiki or Fire Emblem and many more probably won't even pick up Mario Galaxy or Smash Bros. Brawl. Smash Bros. Brawl has months of entertainment packed away even just for the solo gamer. Still I wouldn't rely on the Wii as a primary console. It sits happily alongside my 360 and gets played every so often. Unlike the PS3 which doesn't get any use.

The problem is advertising, and the relationship between Ninty and their third party devs.

It's no secret that they don't give a **** about the third party devs working on wii games.

Perfect example is Lucasarts working away on a Star Wars game, wishing to implement 1:1 Light Saber action, and all the while Nintendo are working away on the wiimote addon which would allow just that, keeping it to themselves and ****ing Lucasarts over in the process.

They don't care how well the 3rd party games sell as long as 20 million people buy wii "Swing your arms around like an Ebola riddled monkey" sports/fit/cooking/beachball blah blah blah.

Again, I don't begrudge them their latest renewed success, I just wish I could be a part of it, with some good games that cater for real gamers. Zack and Wiki is ****ing amazing though, thumbs up Capcom!

Yeh Sonic Adventure 1 was amazing, though still not close to the Megadrive games,

Since then though they have been awful.

I agree that SSBB can offer months of entertainment, the same can be said for Mario Kart. Online play on both of these games are brilliant and addictive. If you don't have broadband, 2-4 player with a friend/s is just as fun. Zelda is another great game and it's quite long. These three games could offer you enough entertainment until another good game comes out. Of course there are other good games out now but they have already been mentioned so I wont mention them again.

I reckon some peeps just don't get the Wii (the ones that throw the controller in a hissy-fit when they're crap at bowling generally) but I certainly wouldn't get rid of it once I had one.

Had mine since launch and these days I'm mostly playing Smash Bros and Pro Evo on it. I really need to go back and finish Metroid, the one player Mario Kart, Medal of Honor:Heroes 2 on hard and online to up my rep ;), get all 120 stars in Galaxy and start No More Heroes.

When friends are around, the Guitar Hero 3 and Geometry Wars come out first, maybe followed by wii sports.

Just my opinion but Pro Evo on the Wii is the best soccer game on any system, period! Sure 360 and ps3 have better graphics but can you send all three strikers on dummy runs (guided individually where you want them) while holding off a defender with your midfielder, only to lob a sweet one in to your other midfielder who looks like he isn't a threat and then bang! - back of the net!

    I don't think so....

pro evo does sound amazing, have wanted to get it for the big screen for a while now.
