hey guys i figured if anyone on boards would know about sending/receiving guns in the post it'd be ye.

ok, so ive been gifted with a lovely air rifle, but its in Edinburgh and i need to get it home to Ireland. clearly i cant take it through the airport and I wont be able to get the ferry. so.. can i post it? will it go through or be siezed? and if siezed, will i get it in the end anyway?

what if i take it to a few pieces and send them individually?

Sorry mate but we dont do air rilfes. Best to ask in the shooting forum. You'll likely need a license for it too.

Airsoft is a completely different thing operating with a far lower muzzle energy (which is the key to the definition of a firearm).

An air rifle is a firearm in Ireland and you'll have to have it licensed. Ask about it over on the shooting forum, as this place is strictly airsoft only.

If it's an air rifle, you'll have to register it as a firearm in this country and obtain a firearms licence along with the associated documentation required to import it, the lads in the shooting forum will know more about this.

If it's an airsoft gun and firing under 1 Joule of power (328fps with a 0.2g BB) then it is legal to own and use over here, posting it over shouldn't cause any problems and if it did get seized, once it was confirmed to be under 1 Joule you would get it back.

Edit: Beaten to it by both Hive and o1s1n :)
