Audio Question

This is not exactly a modified car question in the traditional sense but I hope you will be able to help me none the less.

I am looking to add an aux port or an Ipod connector cable to my car radio.

I have searched around and there are loads of different options but the problem is they are all different and I have no clue what I need exactly for this type of radio.

It a Toyota Avensis 04 tspirit. It would be nice to be able to control the ipod from the steering but then again a basic aux port would also suffice. I don't want to change the radio as I like the integrated dash.

Any help appreciated.

I could be wrong but i dont think this is possible without replacing the radio. Ford made a hude deal about being able to do this.

If your radio has a aux input on the rear it will be an RCA audio in. you can use that to get audio to the radio.

Otherwise your going to have to replace the radio with one with one that supports full ipod control.

edit:

If you have a factory control stalk an adapter will be needed also so pick carefully.

even without the control of the IPod, just getting basic audio input would be handy

Toyota do an integration lead that will let you control your ipod through the steering wheell or radio buttons, you can also see track info etc.

Check with your local Toyota dealer for compatability and prices.

Does your car have colour screen satnav, or just the regular stereo as fitted to Irish models?

It has the radio, the GPS is built in higher up on the dash so the radio is a similar sytle to the irish cars.

Will ring the garage tomorrow, but one other quick question as I doubt they will know. Are alot of these devices compatable with the itouch?

oh right, that's the same as the Irish model.

this one gives just audio in.

Get the proper Toyota one if you can, I had one in my last car and it's brilliant.
