Arrange to meet the person somewhere public. You arrive early and wait for them to come. When they arrive don't acknowlege them and leave them to get pissed off and leave. As they're going, pick them up yourself while pretending to be another poor unfortunate who also got stood up.

It doesn't matter what you do afterwards. They'll think it's a great date because they went from happy to sad to angry to happy again and somehow luckily met this charming person. They'll be glad to have this story to tell their friends the next day and should you start dating, women love having an interesting meet up story.

Obviously it only works on a first date and only if you arranged the date while messy drunk or over the phone etc. When it works it's excellent.

Anything that you and your date enjoy doing!

Cinema, eating out, gigs, museums, ten pin bowling, pub quizzes (OK, so this is kinda pubbing it, but with a difference)...

Do your grocery shopping together. It's practical and you can tell a lot about a person by where they shop and what they buy

Just make sure you're "going Dutch" if you do this. You don't mind paying for a cinema ticket or a meal but a week's shopping is a bit much.

How about a nice pleasant night in dissolving human corpses in a barrel of acid?
That usually goes down well, and if he/she doesnt like it, well.........

    Yet,you didnt say no...interesting...

Well then don't worry about it. It's always the lad who ends up having to do the thinking anyway! :)

If you have to do something a picnic is always nice. Preferably in the pissing of rain. That way you don't actually have to do anything bar get some food together and drive somewhere nice. Then you eat in the car (forced intimacy) while chatting before taking a quick walk together across wet fields (watch for soaked cow pats).

If done right it's apparently very rosemantic and costs a minimum of effort.

How about the Dublin Bus ghost tour - I'm working on the assumption you're from Dublin. Or rent a bike in the phoenix park? Trip to the International Bar for a comedy night. A show??

Just hire a private jet and head over to Paris for a dinner. you'd be guaranteed a ride on the plane back if you pull that off.

Didn't you read the thread? The OP is a chick. She doesn't need to resort to fancy romantic gestures. :pac:

Well thats a difficult question unless more details about your self are made clear, like your age, sex, address, amount of cash you normally carry and what you are doing tonight..

You see , what do you want from the date?

Men are different, when you go out, you think. "Will we hug and kiss tonight?"

When he goes out hes looking in his wallet and thinking "how much will i have to spend on this chick to get Ass to Mouth in the lane outside coppers?"

You think - "Wouldnt dinner and a few drinks be romantic"

He thinks - "If i buy her dinner and a few pints of Harp -she'll defo put out"

My sugestion is to go somewhere other ppl wouldnt think of going out on a date.. like the woods.

Play some sport that you're good at and she's not, say tennis....burds love getting hammered 6-0, 6-0, 6-0. Call double faults, foot faults and code violations at the top of your voice. Shake her hand at the end of the match, no one likes a show-off.

Well if its a saturday or sunday afternoon try IMMA at Kilmainham Hospital

OK cafe - food not brilliant but it has nice ambiance and is not pricey

its also nice to take a train to Dun Laoighaire to walk the piers on a bracing day plenty of little bistros there and just a short Dart ride to Killiney beach to watch the moon on a clear night - skinny dipping optional

ok ok, I'm 7 years late here but I did happen to take a female stripper (no names shall be mentioned) to the beach at 3am on Sept 11th 2001, dressed in my best 3 piece suit for a night of debauchery.I greeted her with some Krystal champers and a extra large packet of Doritos.I also used my car rug to keep the sand away from the lass. FACT. :d

P.S. Thought this applied to more than one thread. ;)

The woods in the Dublin mountains are perfect, if she puts up resistance, eeh never mind.
