Well afaik kidneys aren't affected by sperm. :pac: That's excessive to have infections though, she really should be properly checked out by her gp and maybe a specialist. So get her to make an appointment as soon as possible, then ye'll have nothing to worry about.

This tends to be a problem I have too.

Its not your fault, its just bad luck.

What your OH needs to do is be sure to urinate both before and directly after intercourse. Sex can cause bacteria to make its way into her body, causing both UTIs such as cystitis and kidney infections.

This should help, although drinking plenty of water and perhaps cranberry tablets will also help prevent persistent infections. But you may have already known that.

    Good luck.

Kidney infections can be a sign of latex allergy too.

Don't worry OP, your g/f isn't alone! I have this problem also - I went through a REALLY bad patch from May-mid July, I got 2 recurrents infections, I had to try 4 different antibiotics before it was cured. During that time, it really affected me - once I started feeling better, I was afraid to have sex in case it brought it on again, it's such a horrible feeling, basically, like p!ssing razor blades, and I'd (unhappily) give up sex to never get another one again!
BUT now I've discovered capsules (also come in liquid form) called Uva-ursi, in fact they were recommended by someone off here. They disinfect your bladder, which in turn makes getting the infection more difficult. You can get them in a health food shop, about a tenner, so worth it! I haven't had any trouble since, granted it's only been about a month since my last trouble, but it's good for me! Tell your g/f to invest in them!

    Other tips:
    -Always pee before/after sex
-Both of you should wash before sex
    -She should wear cotton underwear

I've also heard pearl barley helps. (you can get it in supermarkets.) My dad said my gran used to get infections constantly and this was a life saver apparently! You don't eat the barley itself - just boil it and drink the water.
I haven't tried it as yet as the Uva-Ursi seem to be working, but just as an additional bit of info for you!
