Outdoor security cameras

    Hi all,

I'm really unsure if this post is in the correct area - please feel free to pass me on to whoever can answer my query!

I'm looking for some information regarding night vision cameras (for security purposes). We've been having some trouble at home lately, always late at night and something has to be done about it. I've been looking at weatherproof night vision cameras but I have no idea what's good or bad. The camera doesn't need to move at all. There's just one angle we would need to have it sitting at and I guess it would have to give us enough detail to catch the people involved (read their number plate or help us hear their voices as it might be somebody known to us). It would be positioned outside, probably on a pole which is already in place. I'm not bothered if it looks obvious or not (wishful thinking that if it looks obvious, the trouble might stop!). Can anybody point me in the right direction? I wasn't thinking of spending a small fortune on this (hence I'm here asking for advice instead of ringing eircom phonewatch or a cctv company.

Many thanks in advance for any advice.
