    Folks,

I would love to know what the cost of this stuff is per meter.

Any suggestion on price / spec would be VERY welcome.

    Best regards, P.

It has galvanised steel strand sheath/screen and hard plastic waterproof cover.

    Ring the local electrical wholesale.

Cost depends on current capacity (10A, 20A etc). For a very long run use twice the capacity of current you use to reduce voltage drop. You can get 2, 3, 4 6 cores etc depending on number of phases and application.

Or you can fit ducts and use silicone waterproof cable.

SWA cable - steel wire armoured.

    Don't buy it in Woodies/Homebase/etc. - I think 2.5mm four core was 1.20 / m in CEF.

You need to get the proper glands to earth the armouring etc.

Might find this useful when trying to figure out what cable you need:

other things to watch with SWA are ducting, you will need it unless you use larger cables (not needed) and to back up above, the glanding is difficult, youtube it

I'm not current with the ETCI regs but last time I checked this, you can bury SWA directly in the ground. There is a table with minimum depth etc (about a foot if I remember) - maybe someone with a current copy could check?

Also OP, make sure all glands and junction boxes are rated IP65 (protection against water ingress).

I haven't bought SWA in a while but I would guess less than €2/meter from a wholesaler for 3x1.5sq.
