    hi

after doing some research with the help of the fantastically resourceful boards i've ruled out laptops direct as a place to buy a new laptop... and thanks to the almighty i'm now looking at 2 keenly priced potentials, dabs.ie and elara.ie...

does anybody have any experience, good or bad, dealing with either of these chaps???

    thanks in advance

Ive used dabs from time to time. Never any big problems apart from one stupid thing. The courier they used (or maybe that I selected) were idiots. They left the package to the neighbouring house and never told me. Found it about a week or 2 after it was left at the back door of the wrong house. Twas winter time and thank fook it was packaged well!

That was a few years back so maybe they're better now.

I've used dabs and elara a few times to buy various bits and bob s and have never had a problem with either. I tend to use dabs.ie more though for no particular reason!

I've dealt with Elara after having problems with Dabs, found them fairly helpful. You can also go to the Elara office and pick up you order. They have a forum here on Boards.ie if you want to have a look to see what people are saying.

Only used Elara the once to buy an Asus EeePC. Outstanding service. Ordered it on Sunday and had it delivered to a work address Monday lunchtime (as in the next day).

I bought an Asus EeePC from Dabs recently. Delivery took
    a few days. No problems.

I have had good and bad experience with Dabs. If everything works out they are great. I ordered a laptop from Dabs (4 years ago) which they shipped to France for some reason instead of Ireland resulting in a huge delay in me receiving it. At the time they only had an automated email response which was unbelievably frustrating (not sure if this has changed), especially when they send you the same useless response over and over.

When I received it the laptop was faulty. At that stage I gave up dealing with dabs and decided to get it repaired with Sony (who were excellent).

Recent hassle free experience with them was good, good price and fast delivery. Personally I would only order relatively cheap items off them now after my experience.
