Why have tournament league deductions on a monthly tournament?

I won’t be playing this tournament so my comments are unbiased.

In my opinion all tournaments played should carry league points for those who play in Aces on a regular basis. Just because it’s a monthly tournament doesn’t mean it shouldn’t.

If league points are awarded money should therefore be allocated to the league kitty but this amount should be capped at a maximum of €150 (or less for a smaller entry) irrespective of the size of the entry.

I think league points should be allocated for the monthly tournament because many players only play on certain nights of the week, possibly the same nights every week & hypothetically this regular player could be (a) trying to qualify for the league final, (b) trying to win the league for the first prize or (c) trying to accumulate as many points as possible which will reflect in their starting stack in the final.

Why should a regular player be deprived an opportunity of doing this because a monthly game in on one of their playing nights. Generally speaking you will find that players who are competent enough to feature in the league table will be the very players who will support a monthly tournament which has a larger entry fee.

This tournament should attract a minimum entry of 30 + players so €150 represents only 3% of the total prize fund.

I, as I’m sure all players do, welcome visiting players to our club, but we need to be careful that regulars are not discommoded to accommodate these. Monthly tournaments should not be for the “pot hunters” who might only play in our club once a month.

Look after the regulars at all times.

how could the regulars be inconvenienced by "pot hunters" who might come once a month?
not enough room? or an influx of top players from around the country?
i play there a bit, and the more the merrier i say.
i think it would be a tiny bit unfair to cream money off the top of a 150 monthly tournament.
i dont always agree with big slick poker, but i do on his point of not taking money out of this one.

I think that If I buy into a tournament for €150 I should get maximum value for my €150. Im not a regular tournament player and I think that 96.6% of all tournaments have the league leaderboard money taken and There should be a little accommodation for the players that can't and don't come in and play tournaments 4-5-6 nights a week.

I don't see why I should be forced to pay a % of possible winnings to a league that I can't make the time to take part in.its only 1 out of 30 tournaments that this will affect..

I think that tournament members that are interested in league points/cash are doing very well by getting 96.6% of all possible tourmanents raked for the league.

    Just my 50cent

    I totally agree.
I personally don't want to put one penny into the cash league.
I've never got a penny back from it, so why would I want to pay into it?

I don't play either much anymore anyway.
Only play once a week at most. mostly given up poker.

if you read my post I have explained how they could be inconvenienced and it has nothing to do with "top players" or space. Yes I agree the more the merrier but why change our games to suit the "extras"

Why should there be accommodation for the "non regular player".

No one is forcing you to pay a % to a league, it's a decision you make for yourself. You play by the club rules & if they are not acceptable to you DON'T ENTER.

    It's really quite simple

    No.

Mine was just a general comment about the overall running of the tournament/tournaments and club.
I used to be the clubs second best customer for a long time and after paying thousands of euro I think Im entitled to give my opinion.
From what I can see it is a priority to get in new players as the poker scene is really suffering in Waterford and I would be doing anything I could to get in new players. and or maybe get back some of the old ones...!!

Quite obviously you are not playing regularily anymore because if you were you'd know the club for tournaments is absolutely flying at the moment with numbers well up.

And before you mention about cash games this discussion is about tournaments

No. Im playing very very little.
Numbers are up...on what? this time last year?

I was really ever only a cash player ..so I'd better not mention that so..!!!
