got offered a position as a satellite engineer with a company in south ireland.
covering my home town and sorrounding towns.

    sounds promising.

    but..

i have to rent the van and equipment off them for 250 a week.
do my own taxes and contributions etc.

do you think i will also have to provide my own insurance and tax on the van? or would that be covered under the 250 a week??

they say the more jobs i do, the more i can earn. but they have a quota for each engineer per day. so i assume there is a basic work load and pay rate involved. the more faster i do it, and more jobs i finish the more i earn is my understanding of it.

    any comments? doubts?

12k pa for the hire of van is a bit high, what tools are part of the deal, ladders, drill, safety harness - not very expensive items. sounds like they're on a win-win situation, if they have a slow week they still get 250 from you. see if you can provide your own van as your would be better off renting a van from a hire company. have you priced insurance for working @ height.
