I used to do a lot of ferreting and lamping years ago but when i moved into a flat i had no garden for dogs and ferrets so i lost all interest in hunting, recently i have been getting the urge to get back into it but im still in the flat and have no room for a dog, this might sound a bit mad but would any body be interested in inviting me out ferreting some time.My friends have all gotten into modified cars and stuff so there not interested any more.If not i understand mind as this is probably the weirdest post ever...

    ferreting and lamping???
    is this a euphemism?

I wouldn't consider it weird at all

One of my shooting buddies was best friends with my cousin and my cousin has just moved away so he was stuck for someone to go shooting with. I like the guy so I told him come with me. He has a lovely big jeep (which I don't have) so its a win win. The more shooting buddies the better

You may not get many replies here as no body can see or chat with you but you migh find out who your local club might be and maybe a few meetings with them and bingo you have someone to go hunting with.

could you not keep a small terrier in the flat? a terrier can find sport anywhere. we use'd to hunt rats around the industrial estate and near us. all you need to work a terrier is access to some vermin.and you'll find that anywhere.

gversey - why not get out for a season following hounds - all contact details are publicly available. Good choice around dublin too.
Different packs will have different procedures for vetting new members but if you're genuine there shouldn't be a problem.
Good way to meet like minded people too.

Its just that i couldnt commit myself on a regular basis due to work, one or two days on a Sunday morn would suit , when the season comes in obviously.

No pets allowed in the flat,, its hard enough trying to keep the snake and cockateil out of the landlords view..:D

shame. but it'll be hard for someone to take out a total stranger from the internet. i dont ferret, but if your really keen i'll take you lamping bunnies some night over the winter. nothing hardcore just a walk about the local fields for a rabbit or 2.

I would be very keen, all my friends have just gotten out of it due to work and there own different interests.I have lamped myself since i was 10, 15 yr ago and only got out of it 2-3 yrs.Its not something i ever wanted to give up but it just couldnt be helped at the time, i have always kept terriers and lurchers up till then.

i'll pm you so. i havent started back fully yet. but it'll be mid-week, so you'll be suffering from lampitis in work the next day. symtoms inc-tiredness, stiff sore bones and a big stupid grin on your face.
