I have no experience with this, but at the end of the day a fail is a fail, regardless if it was by 1% or 30%. Seeing as it was a repeat exam, i cant imagine the lecturer being to lenient to be honest

If you fail an exam the only way to get it changed is to appeal it and that's not going to work if there wasn't a mistake made. Lecturers can't, from what I understand, change marks after they've been entered into the system so it's out of their hands and begging them to change it isn't going to get you anything.

    Regulations etc here: http://www.ucc.ie/en/exams/procedures-regulations/

It doesn't matter if you fail 5 credits or 50 credits, you have to repeat the year either way.

not true,if you fail you would not have to repeat the entire year just the failed module, you also would not have to go to the lectures, there is the option of being able to just do the exam in may

Also you can still pass the year even if you fail a subject, if you look in the book of modules there is information as to what you need to pass the year

for most courses you only need to get 50credits as long as you dont get less than 30 per cent in the other 10 credits and you get a total mark of around 440/1200 i think

Believe me, ive looked into these before haha

best of look with the repeat

Yeah, sorry that's what I meant by repeat the year (I was referring to having to spend another year before progressing to the next year rather than having to do all the modules all over again).

So if i get 50 credits and pass the exam by at least 30 i should pass the year then!
i most likely have 55 credits and i didnt do that bad of an exam so im thinking i got above 30..so does that mean i pass by compensation?

but my thought of compensation was you had to get 60 in two subjects and above 30 in the one you failed!.i got 60+ in one 5 credit subject in the summer! Can i compensate from the summer if i can compensate at all!

so my points ratio is in my calculation including a hypathetical 35/100 in my dodgy exam is 560/1200 but only including one subject above 60,does that mean i can still pass!even though i have that hypathetical fail in it!

Arts I does not allow you to carry marks between modules.

Unfortuately, even if you get honours in all of your other modules you need to pass every module to pass the year. One failed module means you can't advance until you pass your failed module in the upcoming academic year.

Just appeal and make up a sob story - they let almost everybody through the appeals.

    Speaking from experience...

does anyone know if this is 100% correct? because I would like to go away for the year rather than hang around cork all year till may for one subject.

although i will have to sit three assetment tests. :/ So could i just come back for those?
