Right, now that Longford half is behind me, the next focus for me is the Mooathon in Donegal at the end of next month.

Has anyone run this before? I have heard from locals that the course is VERY hilly. If so, then will throw any time targets out the window and may consider another race in September/early-October to double-check that I'm still on target for my marathon target.

I've also heard it's very hilly. Amadeus might remember better than me but Didn't Gina say even Mickey had to walk bits and he's a sub-3 kind of marathoner.

I can't remember her saying if he had to walk but I know for a fact it is close to vertical in places! I know she said it's a very, very tough race and my parents live close to the route so I have been for a few runs in that neck of the woods and I know how hard it is. It would be a great testing run and has a great atmosphere by all accounts but not one to gague speed or pace off, afaik.

Thanks guys. Have entered it as I'm up in Donegal that weekend, and was planning on using it as my last tune-up race before Dublin.

Am wondering now if it could possibly do more damage than good - i.e. I am planning on doing 22 miles the following weekend, which may be challenging the week after a "vertical" half marathon!
