    Hi all,

Installed XP on a partition on my Macbook but it says I need to activate Windows and its expired now (after 30 days or something). I installed the XP disc that came with my PC and tried use the authentic code from that but it doesnt seem to accept it.

To get XP working do I have to purchase a seperate Windows XP disc?

If you got an XP disc with a prebuilt PC, it is most likely an OEM licence, bound to that specific PC and technically, it's only legal to use that licence with that PC. As harsh as it may sound, if you want a legal copy of XP for your Boot Camp partition, then yes, you need a standalone licence (though it still is possible to buy another OEM copy and use that).

Or just call MS using the number on the activation screen, tell them you changed parts in your machine, they will have no problem with manually activating it, you will simply be asked if this licence code is currently being used on another machine (if its still in use then not legal! so I assume your PC is dead ?).

You also need to re-activate windows if you install bootcamp and then fire up
    parallels into a bootcamp partition.
