Anyone have any details or idea about a black chopper i saw tonight at about 0030 over the southside of Dublin, had no lights at all, didn't even have the warning lights that all aircraft must have on when flying!
It was very loud/low and i heard it for about 20mins, thought it was the Garda chopper until it sounded like it was overhead and i looked up and saw the outline of a blacked out chopper with no lights, it flew off about 15 seconds after.

    Any ideas or help appreciated!

Took this picture with my mobile at the college green taxi rank. Got out though when he asked me to put Rathmines in to his GPS.

Thats not necessarily true, in the UK the RAF regularily operate without any strobe/anti-collision/navgiation lighting whatsoever, alot of guys on UKAR regarily see Tonka´s ( Tornado´s ) and Hercules operating without any of the above on.

Nah not Airwolf, its so gotta be Blue Thunder listening into people and flying silent while listening into people's conversations and using thermal imaging to see what goes on behind closed doors:eek:

Ah ye, im aware if that.:)

Anyone know the regulations on flying at night and low. I'm aware that there is a 1000ft and 500ft restrictions that require special permission to fly beneath but military and Garda choppers are aloud fly without permit under these limits.

Can anyone shed some light on this!?

LOL.... you need to upload it to a host site, imageshack, bebo or something then link from that uploaded photo to here. Only you can see the photo using that Cdrive link because the CDrive is on your computer.

Apologies to one and all, esp Mairt. Thought all could see.

Sounds like a right pain in the hole to upload to here though.

    Is that the only way?

That's not actually Mairt in the image. He's actually alot uglier than that. There are thousands of funny images found on the web that people here link to for fun or to make a point. Lolcats being perhaps the most famous.

I seen this chopper about 20mins ago, got this thread from googling. I caught it on camcorder too, will upload in a while. I live in Blanchardstown. I also thought it was the Garda chopper but when it got so loud and sounded like it was circling I decided to take a look. I was shocked when I saw it. Anyway, here's an image of the chopper taken from the video. Would be nice to know where it's from or who it is.

Video - not worth uploading now since we know what it is. :)

EDIT: Hmmm... Seems it wasn't black after all, sure looked like it from where I was standing. :Dhttp://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?p=56537687

If this was the same chopper the OP saw then we can finally rule out the Yanks, the Brits, the French, the Russians and ET's :D:D
