    :confused: Hi Im badly in need of some help I have a Nikon D 50 and live it but have lost the user manual and have two problems, one is some times when Im taking a shot nothing happens its like its not focused but no matter what I do nothing happens. any ideas.
    The next is the white balance how do I turn it off, when my review pic comes up its flashing black and white in places Im confused cann any one help please :confused:

    In case you can't get it from the manual.

    1./ Check the switch on the lens. It sounds like it's set to 'M' (Set it to A). Otherwise you might be trying to focus on something that is too close to the lens.

    2./ I don't think that's the white balance causing that, but how you adjust the white balance on a d50 is by either holding the 'WB' button on the back and spinning the thumb wheel (This goes through the presets) or else by pressing the +/- button near the shutter release and rotating the wheel (This modifies the WB between -5/+5).

    The flashing black and white means that that part of the picture is over-exposed (Too much light gets in, the light obscures the detail and appears as big white patches) this is known as a 'Blow Out'. To fix this, it depends how you are shooting. Bring down the ISO (Hold 'ISO' and spin the wheel), increase the aperture if you are shooting in modes A or M (Rotate the wheel) or increase the shutter speed if you are shooting in modes S or M (Rotate the wheel).
