I need other people to notice anywhere I am going wrong.

Any C&C welcome, if you think of any changes that could be made if I was in the same situation again, or if the photos don't do anything for yez at all that's ok, just let me know! Of course, if you like them please let me know too!

    Cheers

I like #2 for it's originality and colours.
DOF is nice too although I am no expert on that.

I notice #2 is taken with a 40D and #3 with a 400D and taken around the same time, you recently upgrade and why so long to up old pictures? I slap my ones up within a few minutes :P

Thanks, #2 was taken by accident - was showing my cousin the sound of 6.5fps on my 40d and I just pointed the camera in that general direction. Straightened the pic up a bit and voila, a poxy shot.

Yeah I upgraded to a 40d a few months back, and I have lots of old pics just lying about, but I'm new here so giv' us a chance to up 'em will ya!:pac:

1 is good nice quailty to it and B&w works well.

2 is good aswell for the same reasons of animalrights

3 seems a bit dark or too bright in parts I dont know? Exposure seems a bit weird in it..

4 really doesn't do anything for me other than it looks cool..

#1 I really don't like macros but the B&W treatment of the shot is good.

#2 DoF is one of my weaknesses and this is a really good example.

#3 Looks like a wood close to me. Is it in the mountains close to Firhouse by any chance. The photo itself has a timeless quality to it and I love the light. Did you up the saturation on it by any chance?

#4 As said by someone else doesn't really do anything for me. The composition is good just don't find it interesting.

Not too much to say that hasn't already been said. 4 is nice, a prett cool shot but would be a bit stronger if the subject was facing UP the mountaini think.

    Thanks.

That woodland picture was taken in Portlaw in Waterford. Do you think the saturation is a bit high? It was one of my first SLR outings and I used to overcook photos a lot.

Hmmm.... thanks. If i have that opportunity again, I'll give that a go! It would be as if he's climbing towards the sun. It might mean a bit more, other than being a nice looking pic!

#1: I agree with whats already been said. Great composition, and the black and white treatment gives it an old fashioned look which really appeals.

#2: I like this image a lot. Great atmosphere created by the lighting and the DOF is really nice too.

#3: I think the image is too bright, too saturated, and doesnt do anything for me. I think it would have been better if you got a shot closer to the horse and rider with the road ahead of them, would tell the story better. Also the horse and rider arent in very sharp focus.

#4: Again as said before, the effect is cool, but nothing really interesting for me.

I have looked at your stuff on flickr before and commented, like your stuff.

The shot reminded me of Massy's Wood which is around 2 kms away from me.

Nope I tend to oversaturate myself. Its not to everyones taste but I like it myself.

#2 is my favourite. Great shot. Looks like midnight in a studio. Highly original and with great colours. I could actually imagine it hanging in a radio stations halls. Lovely and simple. The way I like 'em.

#3 I think let the set down. It's a great idea, but I think it lacks clarity and composition. I think the fact that the rider is in the middle of the road as we see it is a bit unsettling - especially considering they are so dark and they are set against a dark background .
Had they been nearer the edge of th shot we could have seen the road they are travelling into and it would have created a natural progression for the eye to move along the scene. As it is, I feel the eye just wanders around the scene in general.

#4 is interesting. The man makes the scene. But I think had he had something more interesting to offer the shot, it could have been more special. Something like a gun or balloons. Something that makes you wonder what's going on with this shillouet? Even something that hints at the abnormal! It is a nice shot as it is though.

I just want to say these are my personal views and you should take them at that. I mean no offence, of course, but am just saying what I see in these pictures.

Lads thanks for all the comments, proper c&c!

    Now....
#3: I think it would have been better if you got a shot closer to the horse and rider with the road ahead of them, would tell the story better.
I have a different angle on that pic that may satisfy your needs, not sure where it is but I'll try and fish it out.

Dude, no offense taken. Sure look at the title of this thread! I can take any criticism on the chin unlike some people around here;). For instance, I think #3 is one of my best photos ever! Not many people here agree with me on that but hey, that's what c&c is about.

wouldnt mind seeing #2 with contast pumped up to crazy levels maybe???

that could work, but I don't have photoshop to go messing around with contrast! My laptop is crappy, can barely handle picasa. If you have the time to do it yourself, you're welcome to give it a shot.

    Here's my opinion:

#1. It's alright: I think when you convert macros to B&W it makes it more difficult to see the subject, as it's less contrasty and can be confusing. I'd say trying a sepia might be a good idea. Also, whatever way you've converted it, it's made the picture look quite noisy.

#2. Great shot: it's been said already, very original and excellently composed and exposed.

#3. Don't really like it: I just find it unremarkable and a bit bright.

#4. I like it: the shape of the slope, the way the sun and clouds came out and the clarity of the silhouette. It's nice. Maybe cropping out some of the black space would improve it? Might be worth a try
