    Hi all,
Could someone please recommend a Printer that you have.

I am looking for one with built in copier / scanner for basic jobs.

I know that refill costs are very important so that is why I am asking for a recommendation. I have seen this printer on another thread but no one actually reviews it.

I have a canon mp520 great copy/printer/scanner..... Prints really fast and picture quality is super.
    Its about €99

I was advised before that canon and epson printers were the best in terms of ink economy and it would seem to be true. I have seen the machine you linked to and also the MP210 model and they are quality machines.Perhaps a little bulky in size compared to others if your deskspace is limited but otherwise a preety good machine.

Thanks for all your quick replies guys.

Interested in the Canon 220 or the 520.

Main differences as I can see are that the 520 has a display and uses 4 cartridges as opposed to 2.

A few questions if anyone knows the answers.

I imagine the display is a bonus worth having?

Is having 4 cartridges to refill gonna cost me more in the long term?
Do all four cartridges have to have ink to print?

Looking through the features I'd say its a no brainer to take the 520, screen, 4 ink pots (most likely cheaper) prints direct from the memory card and scanner is a higher resolution (although I suspect this is through interpolation)

    520 FTW

Yeah I agree that the 520 seems much better value!

Can someone please tell me which one would be better on ink?????

Or would there be much of a difference at all??????

the main difference seems to be that the 220 only has a black cartridge and a colour cartridge (which has the 3 colours in the one cartridge) whereas the 520 has 4 individual cartridges with seperate colours , so if one of the colours on the colour cardridge runs dry you will have to replace the cartridge even though it still has ink remaining in the other two colours , I have a pixma IP4500 which has the same carts as the 520 (CLI-8 ) , so far I have printed at least 50 A4 size photos with them and the ink level has only fallen be a third , when they do run dry I intend to refill them as from online research this seems to be very successfull and cheap to do ,so after all of that go for the 520, I bought my printer in Argos , it was a little more expensive than online but I was able to purchase 3 years accident insurance for it for only €20 which I think is great value.
