I've been recently thinking about getting braces. I'm 23 and have an overlapping front tooth which I need to sort out because I hate looking at myself in pictures. Anybody have a general price range?:)

how long did you have them on for? were you able to pay the money over the course of the time you were seeing the orthodontist?

I just have uppers and they're costing me 4500. I'm paying monthly so it's pretty handy! Ortho said it should take around 16 months... (one of my front teeth sticks out more than the other so that's the reason I got it done...hated looking at myself in pics as well!)
    Good luck :D

Im getting my braces on in two weeks:o Im getting them on the top and the bottom. They are costing €5000, and I hope to get them off in eighteen months. There is an option to make monthly installments, once its paid off in full by the end of the treatment.

Hi. Im getting braces in October. They are costing 5k for top & bottom. I will be getting 20% back in Jan with tax back. Getting loan from Credit Union to pay. They will be off hopefully in April/May. They are the new 6 month ones.

I have my braces on almost 14 months now.

They cost 4000 back in July 07, paid there and then. Handier to get the payment out of the way I think, don't have to worry about it again then.

As for how long you have to wear them. At the outset I was told it would take 2 years. However, just past the 1 year mark and the dentist said we are WELL ahead of schedule and my teeth have moved very fast. Also said I should 95% have them off before Xmas this year meaning I would have only had them on for 1 year, 5 months!

Everyone's teeth are different though and move at different paces. I've heard of people running well over schedule and have them on for over 2 1/2 years!

Im in Wicklow, but I wouldn't say the price differs that much. When I was researching my braces, the cheapest price I was quoted was €3000 and that was up in Newry. Remember that if you are working full time, you will be able to claim 42% or 20% back depending on your tax bracket.
