Dell Delivery...

Just ordered a Studio online there and it says it won't be delivered until mid-September...

If you bought from them recently how long did it take to arrive? Should I really forget about it until then or is that just one of those "Please allow up to 28 days for delivery" type things and it will actually come a lot sooner?

They've only ever said it would take a week or so for me. They must be have a parts shortage. Seeing as college is coming up they probably have greater demand than most other times of the year.

It took 3 working days for Dell to ship my laptop. But I was given a 2-week estimated delivery date. Keep an eye on your order status. If it's listed as 'shipped to shipping company' or whatever, it'll be with you within 2-3 days, depending on where you live.

I bought a laptop from them a short while ago. I believe the original shipping time stated was quite long, but it actually arrived in less than a week.

It wasn't an off-the-shelf model either, I had tweaked most of the specs, and gone for the custom paint on the outside too.

I order an XPS 1530 last Wednesday at 5PM. The website said that due to popular demand it would take 15 working days. I had it on Friday!! :D

Plenty of time to build it... The estimated date is just that, and estimate.

A laptop I order spent nearly a week in pre-production, then one day it updated to "in production" and 2 hours later I got a call from the courier trying to find the house. Moral of the story, dells tracking system is useless, ignore it.

I ordered my Studio 15 on 30th July, the estimated delivery date was August 25, got an e-mail on the 24th that it was being delayed and the new estimated date was Sept 12th.

Got the laptop on Sept 2nd.

Estimated delivery for my Dell Studio 17 is Friday 19th September but its been "In Production" for 2 weeks. Contacted Dell and they said that the date still remains, but its an estimated date so could take longer.

I get the odd feeling... perhaps not without reasons... that they make a special effort with first-customer orders. That said, there is one hell of a college rush going on right now...

Customer service doesnt really help either with the usual one liners stating that the delivery time is just an estimate and Dell will work hard to meet the date given.

My studio 17 is to arrive on the 23rd.
Am heading up to collage on the 21th for orientation week so I don't mind as long as they get it to me before the week after that. Unfortunately this is my second purchase from them so lets see how they preform this time. the first time was excellent lol.

I ordered my inspiron on the 20-8-08 and it was due to arrive 10th Sept. This was delayed until the 19th. Just recieved an e-mail delaying it again until the 30th due to "popularity" of the the product. I am not impressed!

Would they not have realised the demand before I ordered mine?:mad::mad::mad:

I now HATE dell. Have also sent a letter of complaint but don't expect a reply

Mine arrived yesterday, a day earlier than estimated. Delighted I waited though. The studio laptops are very very nice.

Dell are trying to pick up the old lap top from me as they've replaced it. They started calling me before i got my new one despite saying that they would collect it two weeks after new one arrived. I explained that and they rang + emailed me every single day until i said collect it on x day. Oh we can't collect it then we'll collect it two days later. They had said they needed two days notice which i gave. They also said collection is between 2 and 5 so i took the afternoon off work but on my way home got a call from my place saying the guy had already come at 11 and said he'd come back tomorrow before 1. So i took that morning off and again nobody arrives.

Dell are still calling asking why they don't have the lap top, i'm a bit ticked off especially as 6 different people are contacting me constantly and i told them i would arrange collection one more time and that was it, i also had to explain that the guy had arrived early one day and could they double check the collection time, i just kept getting responses saying collection between 2 and 5 2 and 5 before they listened to what i was saying. So arranged another appointment and about 1 the door bell goes i answer the door and the courier is already turning around having left a receipt in the letter box, i waved and he just waved back and drove off. Dell are still trying to arrange a time for me to stay at home so their couriers can get a lap top that doesn't even turned on. So moral of the story is they're just as bad at collection as delivery!
