Hi there i was thinking of getting a smaller/lighter laptop than my existing 17" I6400. Will be used for the usual and some gaming (i'd like to be able to run some of the newer games) What sort of a deal is this?

    PS M1530 CORE 2 DUO T8100 2.10GHz
English Genuine Windows Vista SP1 Home Premium
    System Price EUR 603.06

Dell recommends Microsoft® Windows® XP Professional
    spacer
Operating System: English Genuine Windows Vista SP1 Home Premium
    Memory: 3.0GB MB (1X2GB + 1X1GB) 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM
Hard Disk Drive: Hard Drive 320GB (5400rpm)
Video: ASSY, BASE 256MB NVIDIA GeForce Go 8600M GT
NoteBook Screen: Display LCD 15.4 WXGA
    CD Read-Write Drive: DVD+/-RW (8X)
    MISC: CCFL backcover 2.0mp camera
    Internal Keyboard Uk/Irish (QWERTY)
CCFL backcover black & 2.0mp camera
    Intel 4965WLAN Mini-Card EUR
Vista OnLine Getting Started Guide (WW
MS Vista Premium Logo Label NB (small
    Image Restore - Vista

I'd ideally prefer the highest res i could get for €500-700 (using a 1680x1050 currently)

That's quite a good price. It must be on the outlet, if so then buy it before it goes.

    yes and no.
I bought that laptop with a similar spec for almost twice tha price a few months ago. It is a decent choice for gaming I've played medieval 2 TW, The witcher, Orange box, Bioshock on it and they all ran fine - only the witcher of those wasn't on near highest settings. It's a nice design and quite light.
However the graphics card in it was recently exposed as having a far highr failure rate than normal. I would guess that is why the laptop has dropped in price so quickly.

Unfortunately the things that are putting me off are: the lack of svideo (handy for plugging into the tv at home), the lower res wxga, and because it's not stated, i presume dell aren't selling it with a 9 cell battery. Are these concerns justified?

For the money it's amazing spec. You'd easily spend twice that on a similarly spec'd machine. I'd say you're right in presuming it has a 6 cell. But you could get lucky, i've heard of it happen before, where people get more than stated off outlet. If it were me i'd go for it.

That's probably without VAT + DELIVERY though?
It's caught me out a few times now, I'm searching for a bargain on the dell outlet myself for College.

if it isnt outlet and dell are saying buy it before X deal end in 1 day thats normal.there'll be another price drop in 2 weeks max.

simply put Dell are not selling their stuff and need to shift it somehow
