Performance reviews & rights

I had a performance review which I wasn't happy about. The review was linked to my annual salary increase. I changed managers during the year and the previous manager's comments were passed onto the current manager. I didn't see any record of his comments on the review sheet and my current manager ended the meeting before adding his. While the review was a positive grade, it was a grade lower then i feel i should have got considering i was working outside the spec of my role.

Have i a right by law to request copies of all performance reviews and employment records relating to me from this company?

Yes, you have the right under the Data protection act if its kept on a computer.

    see guidance here

    http://www.siptu.ie/YourRights/TUFGuideToLabourLaw/ContractofEmployment/DataProtectionAct1988/

"What Are The Obligations On Those Holding Personal Information?

People or organisations, including employers, keeping personal information on computer must give employees access to their own personal information and must correct or delete any information that is inaccurate or irrelevant."

However there is a possibility that your relationship with your employer might be further strained by invoking this legislation

    Thanks for the info.

Tbh, after the review i think i'm wasting my time with my current employer and don't see any advancement now.

I have to agree with this. it would be one of those situations that there is no going back from. you might get the satisfaction of a grade higher on your performance review, but it might sour your future working relationship.
