Any of you guys familiar with Naked City? It's one of John Zorn's projects fronm the 90s. It mixes everything from jazz, grind, cartoon music and a glut of other genres and styles. Yamatsuka Eye, from Boredoms, takes care of a lot of the vocals. I have never heard such a wigged out, insane and compelling use of the vocal chords. You really have to check this out if you don't know them. Be warned though that this music is completely and utterly manic and is not conducive of dreamy, floaty musical experiences.

Search in http://www.progarchives.com/artist.asp?id=633 for more info.

I've just discovered a rerelease from a guy called Bill Holt going under the monicker 'Dreamies'. This record is totally remarkable and well worth investigating. You will not be disappointed. It's one of those 'rediscovered' lost/unknown pieces from the seventies. However, unlike too many other 'rediscovered classics' that invariably disappoint, this one does exactly what it says on the tin. It is truely sublime. It has gone into my top ten of all time favourites and that's not an easily accessed list, believe me.

I love what I have heard of Melt Banana but don't know that much about their releses. What would you recommend to start with? The Japanese really have their finger on the pulse when it comes to great music.

I'll check out that Zorn, Gift album too. Sounds like something I would get into. Cheers for the tip.
