Family & business circumsatnces have changed & we now find there are more vehicles parked up in the yard than actually in use.

we have decided we no longer need 2 cars & have decided to cash them in & buy 1 more modern.

    http://www.carzone.ie/used-cars/Opel/Vectra/1.9-CDTi/1153911/

came across the 3 above & wondering what other board users think

if you notice the mazda price is €3.5K less than the price on the windscreen

not really interested in ford or vw & after many fairly trouble free years with nissan & toyota just want to try something different,

annual mileage will be about 25K miles

    thanks in advance

I'd put them exactly in the order you have them . I would consider the Accord far superior to the other two.
The 2.2 in the Accord is a fantastic engine

I'd go with the Accord too.

The Mazda is the previous model, there was a new model released in late 2007 or early 2008 meaning that model will depreciate like a stone. Not the Vectra because it's a Vectra :D

Not my own cup of tea but heh...not bad for the money.
One of the few with an Irish reg for sale on Carzone:rolleyes:

Around that price range and looking to go fairly new it'd be on my shortlist

    A little different and older.

    Another one to think about.

Go on a holiday with the change

    Because it's still a Vectra.....but it's not

    Food for thought?

someone posted a while back about bringing in an early 2008 diesel accord from england for about €23k landed incl vrt - has the added benefit of being on the new lower (co2) rate of motor tax

Very good point - later plate and lower road tax would make a lot of difference come selling/trading time.

    Thanks for the replies,

to be honest I was kinda hoping the mazda would get the vote

I must look into importing from the UK , was 1 option I did not really consider

    thanks again

The Accord would definitely be my choice & avoid Vectra's at all costs

ive the accord and its a great motor and would be my pick. I drove the mazda, and found the pedal positions bad for anyone with big feet.

I'd go with that also. Honda is a class car.

Brought a BMW 118D SE in from the UK, about 24K landed with VRT paid, as against 34K new with the extras on it.

Remember when looking in the UK, Has to be more than 6 months old and more than 6,000 Km on it otherwise you get caught for tax. The calculator on www.ros.ie will give you the price for VRT.

Other threads here give details on it.

Remember a car that the garage registered in January 08 is a 07 car in UK terms but can be registered as an 08 car when you bring it in. :D

UK garages list cars primarily on year rather than on plate

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,940 ✭✭✭dingding

The car I purchased was registered on 10 January but it had a "57" plate. He had it listed on his site as a 2008, however it was proabably worth less in than an "08" in the UK because of the "57" plate. :)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 690 ✭✭✭VH

true, but only because a 57 is up to half a year older than an 08 plate

I know someone who imported a 2005 Accord diesel from the UK. It had 70k miles with a full Honda service history. Cost him under €15k cleared including travelling.
