    Hi Guys.

My Dad used to have an old Ford with a 14.9 engine.

Looking through some photos, I've come to the conclusion that it was a modal A, but I think the majority of modal A's had a 2.3 litre engine.

Has anyone out there some information about these cars.

    Regards

I know nothing about the cars but 149 cubic inches, (The US way of measuring) converts to approx 2.4 litres.

Thank you. Now that's very interesting and probubly explains a lot. It might be my misconception, but when someone said it was a fourteen "point" nine engine I took it to be a smaller engine. I think you are right.

14.9 is the Horse power rating.

So what that be in terms of engine size, i.e. 2.0, 2.3 litre?

According to Wikipedia the Model A (1927-1931 model as opposed to the 1903-4 model) had a 3.3 litre engine producing 40 bhp. Maybe the European models had smaller engines though? Wouldn't be the only US-centric article there  Random googling has found mentions of a "Ford 14.9 HP" engine but I still can't see what cars they were in...

I spoke to a couple who have a Modal A, and they told me that their car has a 2.3 litre engine.
