Laptop reads cdroms ,cant load dvdroms

I reinstalled winxp home from restore cds on my laptop Toshiba satellite 510 pentium 4 1.5ghz .It loads cds ,cdroms ,it cannot read dvdrs or dvds.I havent used the net on it ,its not a virus, all devices including dvdrom drive show up fine in device manager.Could it be dvd lens needs cleaning,is there a separate lens for…

could be a driver thing. Check for an updated dvd driver. if it is the lens, get yourself a lens cleaner or myself, I use a microfiber cloth - thems is great for keeping electronics shiny
