Sharpness in images.....

How do I improve sharpness in my images/pictures ? especially while zooming, say to 100mm or 150mm ?

I had a polarizer on my (Oly E510 camera) Zuiko 40-150mm lens and it was causing all my pictures to be blurred. I took it off (with a fair amount of difficulty) and am now getting slightly better 'hand-held' zoomed shots.

Any tips for improving 'hand-held' zooming shots ?
ie. I like to use the zoom lens while touring around, eg. walks in the country, visiting the zoo with the family, etc.

depends whats causing the lack of sharpness as to how to fix it.

easiest solution is ensure you're using a high shutter speed

Have you the IS turned on?

The general rule of thumb is 1/focal length for 35mm equivalent, so for your 150 you should need 1/300th of a sec.

Polarisers generally lose you 1-1.5 stops of light so it would have made it much harder to get your shutter speed up. You shouldn't need it for general use anyway.

Much more important than the said before is: did you use a linear or a circular polarizer? Because if you used a linear one, there is only ONE position on a 360 degree window that is right - so you should use a circular one! More expensive but also much more effective!:D
