I played in a classic today and was not informed of a handicap limit.

I put 20 on my card an was disqualified for playing off an incorrect handicap, they introduced a limit of 18.

The two lads playing with me (both past officers of their club) are looking for blood. They say it was the competition committees to adjust the scores. (as it happens I didn't score on the index 1 and inder 2).

Does anyone have a definitive view on this?

I think it's definitely the competition committee's fault. If you were not informed before you teed off or put your score in then the onus is on them to adjust your score in accordance with the limit. That's my opinion anyway. Appeal it, especially if you might have got a prize! :)

    +2.

As far as I would say, you played off of your correct handicap. The competition has a limit which they should bring everyone down to. Surely you shouldn't be putting the wrong handicap on your card. I'd say you have great grounds to follow this up, go all the way and get the GUI involved if they still disqualify you.

Got a phone call late last night with a grovelling apology.

Turns out not only was there nobody with a knowledge of golf there during the day, the organisers disqualified my team as we were the only team to have a player over 18!

We would have featured in the top three, good job we didn't win it as I'd have had war.
