Its the Tourism & Leisure building so I would assume courses related to that.. Im not sure of specifics though?!

As for college st. students being moved - I don't think that was a rumour, but I don't think its going to happen as students haven't been informed. So whatever happened to that being changed I have no idea! IF it was a rumour I think it was misunderstanding what people have said - I recall Shane Kelly (former SU President) saying something along the lines of moving students but I don't recall a timescale being given... so tbh, I have no idea whats going on.

thanks for puttin me straight, my sis is doin social care and is goin into 4th yr, she was lookin for a hse down middle of towm, when i heard bout her course moving to cork rd, cause then she said she lwud ook for accom up lismore area instead then.... so if she hasnt heard bout her own course moving i presumed it was just a rumuor..

and on diff thing altogether, u seem to be the man that wud know, sully.
if ur repeatin exams, can u not start classes til results in, or do u start and see wat happens wit results then, they out the 15th i think.

Dont quote me, but I would imagine they arent moving anyone as most people will go to that campus again!

You return to classes as per normal, and you pester your lecturer for results :P Nah, just return and you will be told what you failed (if any) then when the results come out. Tis unusual, but you get to carry subjects if you want (depending on the subjects and course) or repeat the year.

I asked one of the lecturers about college st. moving up but he hadnt even heard anything bout it so doubt they are moving. He said that the new building is going to be used for language classes and some of the sports classes(rec man etc.) Think he said something bout all the student services(wit card office etc.) moving to the new building as well.Dont quote me though i could be totally wrong..asked him a few months ago so cant remember exactly what he said!

the building will cater for mainly tourism, language and hotel management courses,
Theres a bar, a restaurant,a canteen, 5 state of the art kitchens, i mean these kitchens are unbelievable! a bedroom ,a social area upstairs with loads of tables and couches ,a dance hall,:):):) and rooms with brand new computers, two HUUUUGE auditoriums and plenty of language rooms too. Most of the classes for the tourism, hotel management and language classes will take place in the new building which has yet to be named I think.. Hope its something better then "the well" anyway...

was over there on thursday a lot still to be done but my course leader assures me its just paint here and there...all the lcturers have moved over there since june and to be honest its an absolutely gorgeous building, even to the way the stairs are made...wow really nice!

Bring on september!!..see ya at the new bar :p

    Is the Dome closed down?

no idea... but it has been closed anytime im in college, which is way to much for my liking this summer.
the big shutter is always down.. i actually thought it wud stay open all summer, i think the one in nuig stays open, i use to know the bouncers and some barmen, and it was there full time jobs, so it def stayed open all summer.

The Dome doesn't stay open during the summer AFAIK. Never noticed it open before anyway. Not that I ever spend much time there anyway.....

The only thing that doesn't close on the campus is the main canteen, a bit of a nuisance, but that's the way it is.

Aye it does close over the summer and during mid-term do IIRC. The canteen opens but closes about half 4 I think. I just assumed when you said they took the sign down that it was closing and moving into the new campus!

Could you imagine how bad the parking would be if they moved students from College st. up to the main campus

College St. doesn't really have much car parking spaces, so it wouldn't be a huge problem - but a problem none the less. Plus, the new building should free up more spaces (not many) as I think there is a car park at the back of it..

College Street has about 150-200 cars parked there every day. That's quite a bit to be moving up to the main campus.

I wonder if there are plans to move everyone from College Street as WIT have ben granted planning permission to knock the wall between the Adult Education building and the church area and also to develop the area to the left of the main entrance (where all the trees are) into a green space and car park.

thats our building)( iam doing for hospitality for last two years, onto my 3rd lol.. its for all tourism and hospitality courses. but its for some sports courses (sorry not the proper name , having a slow night) and few from college street.

the building is massive and it is the best building in Europe for tourism and hospitality, cost millions.. it is going to be the job !
