How much will this cost me?

I'm looking to buy four pairs of runners from Amazon.com shipping from the US. The cost of the items (excluding postage) is $285.97 or €193.

Can someone calculate how much the various tax and duties I'll be liable for will cost me?

The closest thing you'll get to an answer are in the Duty/VAT thread above. You won't get an exact figure as it'll depend on what duty they apply (it can vary) and what additional charges they may apply too. Generally speaking, 30% is a good guideline.

Well that certainly negatives any sort of bargain element to shopping online.

Not if you shop within the EU or buy stuff outside of the EU that is under the importation limit

Were there not plans to extend that limit?
