Soundproofing

Looking to upgrade to a semi decent sound system for the house (Home Theater).

Is there any method to try and insulate from the attached next door neighbour so that I dont get knocks on the door complaining of the noise?

I would imagine its difficult to stop a subwoofer from 'oscilating' through the houses ... ?

    Thoughts?

short of building a room inside your room there's not a huge amount of ways to control your sound escaping.

You can insulate your room using basic stuff from the DIY shop, putting draught excluders around the doors helps a little. Placing your sub on a heavy stone slab will stop it rattling too much. You can put down carpet or a rug to help the situation too.
