if people are unemployed in this country, maybe hire all of them to speed up the stupid process between means test and approval. i had put all my hope into gettin the 5 weeks i'm owed into my account this week.. for deposit on new house etc. but no sign.

shud i go down to the dole office and see wats up with my claim? does it normally get paid into ur account?

A means test does take a a few weeks to be done but as the offices are now twice as busy as this time last year with no new staff it is taking a lot longer. You can go down and make sure thay have everthing for your claim. Your payment will be paid the way you requested it when you made the claim.

I made a claim almost 2 months ago and still no word from them. Have rang twice in the last two weeks to be told it would only be a couple of more days. I'm lucky I'm living with my mother atm, you wouldn't want to be paying rent or buying your own food on this system.

This is seriously pissing me off at this stage. Still no word from them over 2 months now despite getting assurances it would only be "a couple of more days".

I rang my local office 5 times today, everytime it just rang out. Then I rang the main office and the woman asked me what was my local office, then said "Lets see if they're in" the put me through to the local office which rang out again.

yeah it does take along time. i finished up my job in the morth in may thinking that id be able to get a job at home easily. no luck so far.

i went to the dole in early july and was told that id have to have a means test interview which only happened last thursday!

thats about 6 weeks after i first went in to them! i was told that yeah i qualify for the dole but id have to wait another 2 to 3 weeks for my details to be processed.

In fairness though the guy doing the interview was working as hard as he could, it took less than 10 mins in all to do the interview.
he also said they were closing the employment offices to the public for one day a week to help process claims.

I applied for the dole in june while I was trying to find work and had my benefits test in July which went fine,
I claimed the supplementary welfare allowance for a few weeks and then found work and phoned the dole office to tell them
-this was before I received any money from the actual jobseekers allowance people.
But I'm still owed around 5 weeks dole from when I applied till when I started claiming the supplementary dole.
Anyway, I have to go back to university next week so I have to give up the job so I was just wondering am I still entitled to that 5 weeks worth of money or what's the deal with that?
