I have been with Magnet for nearly 2 years on a 5mb line, Magnet really dont care what u download, as on average i download from 160gb to 230gb a month!
    This costs 28euro a month!
Ntl are now offering me the 10/20mb speeds with UNLIMETED D/loads, but the small print includes the "fair usage" policy...

Anyways what do u guys reckon NTLs fair usage is...

You have to sign up to a 12 month contract, i would hate to find that 200gb with NTL was NOT fair Usage....

Nobody really knows as the whole point of the "fair use" crap is to not officially tell you what the cap is. There was quite a bit of discussion on the subject in this thread:

    http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055355957

I'm in the group of people that are guessing it's around the 150 - 200GB a month mark but that's purely a guess. For all we know, it could be much higher or even lower than that. I've only had the speed increase for less than a month so I haven't downloaded any huge amounts that would cause a reaction from UPC to have any indication what fair use is...

RoyalMarineComm do you dl torrents? I have the 20mb package and find that they are throttling my dl's. Do you use Rapidshare or something like that?

With torrents u are sharing, which iam sure that u know,
So i big step up in speed (like the 20mb package u are on) wont make any difference, coz u are sharing with 10s/100s/1000s people..

You would need to Direct download with something like Rapid share / newsgroups..

i hear that RS has throttled its speed and has a daily download allowance now, even for Premium account holders..

maybe i can be corrected here...

Wow, that's some upgrade from the 40GB limit they had when we were on the 6Mbps package - nice one :D

Keedowah, I'm DLing torrents off private trackers and can get speeds of up to 2.2MB/s which is in line with a 20Mbps connection - are you sure they are throttling and it's not something on the tracker's end? Or maybe it has to do with the usage levels? I wouldn't go past 100GB in most cases anyway and was at around 50-60GB when they had the 40GB cap.

    rapidshare and private torrents.
rapidshare downloads, i get about 2.4mb/s download and about 180kb/s upload.
    with torrents i get about 1.1 - 1.2mb/s download and 100kb/s upload.

rapidshare dont throttle downloads or uploads for premium user's. only free user's are limited to 50kbs. but they can download more than 1 file per 90mins now.
you only recieve 5gb a day download limit with rapidshare. but since i upload quite a lot, i earn rapidshare points and every 10,000 points, i can extend my acc or create a new one. so ive got about 4 now. so i get 20gb a day limit.
