Just wondering if anyone that reads this board goes to blast gigs? I can't understand the appeal. Overpriced gigs and lineups clogged with underpar bands. I'll admit that my first Dublin "punk" gig was in 2000 at one of these affairs, but I quickly realised how completely fake most of it is.

Anyway. I'm just wondering if anyone that goes to these gigs can tell me why they're willing to pay so much for them and at the same time ignore all the gigs that bohs punks and others are advertising for sometimes less than half the cost of a blast gig.

I didn't know they still did does Blast gigs. I remember a few years back young lads in s hit poncey, studenty type bands in Tipp telling me how great they were for promoting music in Ireland. It just seemed to me that they were just c unts ripping gullible kids off of there hard earned pocket money.

Yeah, it's pretty sad seeing kids talk about it as if they've finally made it. I'm glad I went the once and witnessed first hand just how bad it is. So many kids who think that what blast promotes is punk. All they seem to promote is a sellable image :(
