I want to put up a clothes line about 35 feet long with two strong metal poles at either end.
Anybody got any clever ideas on how to use a pulley system.
I want to keep away from propping it up in the centre.

35ft of line will mean that you have to put in good foundations for the poles.
I got 3 small galvanised blocks for my "T" type bars I made them from 3" steel pole which is probably a little heavy but definately strong enough for the weight of clothes on three lines of indeterminate length.
If you fix the lines on one end and then use small blocks for the lines to run through and have a couple of cleats to tie the end of the lines to at a convenient height.

To fix the poles I will weld some rebar to the galv pipe running the same way as the line to give some strength to the concrete.
