Looking to head somewhere for a week in mid September. Top of the list is Lake Garda ! And on the face of it, the place looks amazing !
So I guess, im looking to get some general thoughts on it...... Accommodation etc !

    The do's and dont's

O and going to be possibly renting a car there also.

    Thanks.

Was there exactly mid-september and it was gorgeous - although you wouldn't want to leave it much later because it can get cold on the Lake. IMO week of 8th would be best.

We hired villa from ownersdirect.co.uk and there are some lovely spots on the western side of the lake. It's probably better to stay on the mountain (not on the lakefront) because the views are spectacular. The 'swimming' areas are fine. We hired a speed boat and that was great. Also, not far is Verona and from there you can get a train to Venice - all doable in a day. There is a ferry that crosses the lake every 40mins so you can explore the whole region very easily. It was brill; Some wineries that take tourists are on the eastern side and that is fantastic. Overall, is good value.
Supermarkets are closed on Sundays! Most restaurants too! :confused:So bear in mind if S/C.

I stayed in Spiaggia d'Oro in Salo. Nice hotel, with great pool and right on the lake. Beautiful spot. Great restaurants all around.
