just wondering if it would do any serious damage to the engine if you put in regular petrol or does it need to be run on premium petrol?

    does the vvtl-i require premium?

    Thanks

    It doesn't matter.

I'd recommend using e5 if it's a Jap import though.

VVT-i is pretty much standard on every Toyota for the last 8 years, no special petrol required.

Theres minimal differences between the VVTi and the VVTLi engines.
I put whatever was cheapest into my VVTLi until toward the end I put e5 only.

Don't worry too much, unless you put diesel in it... :)

you can run it on shell V-power if you want... but you'll have no money left in your account very quickly!

Any unleaded will do, but e5 would be a preference!

VPower in Ireland is 95 octane also, though. E5 is pretty much it for widespread availability 99 octane.

VVTLi is grand on the cheapest petrol but there's an extra kick from the lift with the e5 Maxol stuff, should you be that way inclined

You'll be hard pressed to run it on Premium Unleaded in this country...

    None taken.
I was just curious because i remember reading somewhere(could have been on these forums even! :)) that such and such a car need to run on a better qaulity petrol it could have been a 2oosx actually so then i was thinking maybe other sporty cars such as the celica require the premium stuff but the lads above cleared that up for me.:D Thanks.

Only if it was a Jap import and if it wasn't mapped to run on 95 RON

Its a fair question. Every couple of months I put 20quid of premium into a nearly empty tank and give the car a good blast to keep it all cleared out! the other side to premium is that although its more expensive it will return superior mpg making it somewhat more affordable!

no such thing as not mapped for 95 - some cars are mapped to run better on 98/99/100 but will run fine on 95 too

Is there not cases of Subaru's eating pistons on 95 due to being actually mapped to 98?

if there was no map for 95 the MIL would probably come on with a knock sensor, misfire or timing related condition
