Natural running speed

Just wondering if there is a such thing, I've noticed over the past few sessions that the faster i'm running the better i feel , ?I know i don't have the fittness to keep this up, but my normal training pace for say a 5 mile would be jsut unser 9 min miles. ( pb is 31 mins).

But i've noticed that during my longer speed work session that i'm feeling so much better and that my body is working better then it does at a slower pace. This is when i would be at maybe sub 7 min mile pace.

I know at this stage i cant keep this pace up due to my fittness level but is there a natural running pace that everyone needs to run at,

I find it hard to run my warm ups and warm downs. I mean running slower than what I'm used to. Sometimes it's like I'm tripping over myself.
Because of this, I generally don't do a proper warmup, which I know is really bad.

Shels - I know what you mean. I also find it difficult to maintain a slow pace on my long and easy runs. I suspect its because I just don't have the base mileage behind me that guys who have been running for years do so possibly my aerobic capacity is not what it should be. I'm planning to have a longer and slower base this winter to try and build this up. Anyone else have this and overcome it with good base phase?

I think you could be right, i'm upping my miles now but the long runs i thend ot be very stiff after as my leg turnover is slow and strid lenght is too short too. I feel so much better running fast but die after about 1.5 mile .
