How often should you get yur car serviced?

some people tell me every 6000 miles, others say 10 or even 12000 miles. What would be the official recommendation?

    Look up the acronym RTFM.

Different cars have different service schedules.

The manual is the best place to start, but don't just go purely by mileage. It's quite easy to do low mileage, but in conditions that are not good for the car (e.g. lots of small trips with a cold engine). I have my car looked over at least every 6 months, regardless of mileage.

    What car?
    What mileage?
    Any signs of oil underneath?
    Anything else not looking great?
    etcetera
    etcetera
Full service once a year would be a good idea (in my service book) :D
