Busy day yesterday what with the Swans and on the way up to Spirit, I stopped at the field where I had seen a Scarecrow. I think it is Wheat although it could be Barley. As usual c&c welcome :) I kinda like both the black and white and colour versions of pictures 2 & 3

    Really love the 2nd image.

I think the last image might look better in colour, although, I generally prefer colour to B&W anyway (personal taste).

Great focus, DOF and composition in all images.

Number 1 is absolutely perfect. I really like it.

I really like the 2nd one Borderfox. Lovely shot.

Its one of those places that when I drive past it draws me in with the overall view but when you get close to it the little details and patterns stand out. Personally I like the colour in the second one but just tried the black & white (just gradient map in PS)

    Thanks for the comments.. :)

I really like the first one, dof & composition are great. B&W really suits it as well.

Imho the dof is too narrow in the last one.

    I agree on both counts.

Very nice set, love the simplicity of shot one.. Keep meaning to find a field and have a go, will be gone soon!

defo number 2 for me, then number 1

number 3 doesn't do anything for me, as not enough contrast (in background, compared to 1)

How do you find that lens?? My friend brought that out to a concert the other day and he loves it, and I was seriously jealous, but don't want to impulse buy ;)

    Borderfox,

That second shot is stunning. I love the contrast between the soft backdrop and the pin sharp wheat. The subtle warm colouring is beautiful too.

I love the detail and contrast in the 1st image, i rather #2 to #3, although it still looks great in #3 i think that the colour is really nice in #2 (Could it do with a slightly tighter crop height-wise? - making it more widescreen if you get me?)
I like #4 too, but would maybe agree about the DOF ebing a bit too narrow imo.

Brilliant shots as always though, great detail, sharpness, composition etc. Wish i had the money to afford better lenses :(

No 1 is very good. I like the contrast of the image.

The colour tone of #2 is great. My fave out of the lot!

#3 doesn't do anything for me. I think it should stay in colour!

The Sigma is a superb lens and the fact it is a zoom adds to it more, the Canon 100mm macro is so sharp too and probably the best all rounder I have.

Thanks again for the comments and I do like number 2 myself probably my favourite out of the bunch, the field is off the old N2 turn right at the Coolquay lodge Pub and then its third right towards Newbarn Farm (signpost) by the looks of the field probably overdue being cut at the mo.

I like the first one but I would have moved the stalk just a small bit to the left.
The second shot I think looks a lot better in black and white, I think it is very good.
But my favourite is 4. It makes me feel just a little apprehensive, it is like a scene from a nightmare/horror movie. What is it going to look like when it comes into focus and turns round etc..

    Sometimes I like #1 better, sometimes #2 :o
#4 I like a lot except as someone said earlier the very narrow DoF.

#1 for me, it's an excellent photo. Could see a large print out of that hung up on the wall

    No. 2 is beautiful.

No doubt in my mind - number 2 is smashing. Depth of field really well controlled and just enough to keep the image clean looking and uncluttered. Haven't commented on a photo in a while but this got me off my arse... Love it.

    Lovely pics Borderfox.
When I saw your pic it reminded me of mine, I took it other day near Vinegar Hill in Enniscorthy. I was using my Zuiko 40-150mm lens with a polarizer on, which I've discovered was giving me blurred pics (especially this one), ie. I'm new to D-SLR and I'm still using SCENE modes (doh!).
