Anyone ever go back to a company a second time? I left a job earlier this year on pretty good terms and they treated me great, I would love to get a job there again but things are so screwed up right now, I might have to migrate to oz!

If you are good, they will be delighted to take you back.

    Give them a ring?

    Yes i believe so.

I left a company twice. Once to move to Scotland and when i returned i just showed up and asked if they had any positions and they offered me a job back.

Secondly i went travelling for 2 months and they were unable to give me the unpaid leave but said if they had a position when i returned they would love to have me back.

I think if they like you and have a vacancy they wouldn't hesitate in having you return. Having to train in a new person is a pain in ****.

Just ring up and ask if there is any vacancies. The worst they can say is NO :)

Why did you leave in the first place - would those reasons be addressed if you go back? It's easy to get a touch of the rose-tinted glasses when you leave a job.

Yeh presuming you left on good terms they will. I've been back to three different companies a few times now.

Left my last company and they said I can come back anytime. Still chat to a couple of the senior people and there's a job there if I want it but only because they want to send me to various war torn countries!

Its actually a lot more common that you would think. I've done it a few times. Although I have to say the "you can comeback anytime" thing I take with a pinch of salt - mostly they're just being nice.

your right there. the management in a company i worked for used to say that to everyone when they were leaving. on their last day management would gather everyone from the department around and give the person a card signed by everyone and a bottle of wine and then they would say "and dont forget, we are always here if you change your mind and decide you want to come back". they even used to say it to the people who were being let go for not performing or not hitting targets.

saying that though, if you leave a company to go travelling or something like that then they would usually take you back as long as you left under good circumstances. but if you left the company to go to the competition or something like that then it might not go down too well.

Yes - happens quite a bit. I've been in (various parts) of a company 4 times!

Yep, I've left jobs and went back to them. One in particular was I left to go back to college and after the course I called back in to collect a written reference for another job I was offered. The new manager had a chat with my old Team Lead and a few minutes later I was offered a job :)

The last place I worked before my current job was my 3rd spell with that particular company :)
