I may be duplicating a thread here, but who liked this?

I thought it was a moving, powerful, sad story, if a little dragged out. I actually found myself wishing for the end to come sooner at a point.

Still though, great story of friends and sad portrayal of Afghanistan's descent into misery.

I was quite dissappinted with it myself, it didnt seem to know what it wanted to be in some places.

It did have a powerful story in there, and after reading the book i can see where it is within the film, but it lost a lot in translation to the screen

Overall it was very good but as you said OP it did feel a bit dragged out. It really showed a different Afghanistan in the early parts of the film than we've come to know and it was almost bizarre in that difference. I've not yet read the book; I had bought it some time ago but just never seem to be in the mood to tackle it.

Wasn't a fan of the film, like you said, a bit dragged out. The book was very good. I think they're making his other book, A Thousand Splendid Suns, into a movie too, hopefully they'll do a better job with it :)

I thought the first half was fantastic but the second half is very...American. It's slow and expository and doesn't fit well with the intelligence and confidence of the first half.
