Just wondering has anybody out there received their registration packs and bank giros yet this year? It's getting just a little late in the summer for these to be sent out. It means I'm gonna have to make a day trip up to get it in on time when it finally arrives...

Or else, if it's just myself that hasn't received one then they may not have gotten my little acceptance slip. Stupid administration procedures :(

Why can't things be done in a timely manner?

Have EP to attend so don't really want to be trying to run up to the college the day before or after to get a stupid form in on time. I don't live in Dublin so it means travelling for two hours to do a three minute errand, bacause the post generally won't be delivered in time. Silly silly college.

And the OH got his forms from Trinity today, and they don't have to be back in till the middle of September, stupid universities and there quick admin staff!!!

If you are worried - call the Registrar's office. It's the best way to be sure.

As far as I am aware the reg packs have not yet been sent out yet.

Thanks Macrubicon, but would you believe I have been ringing regularly for the last few weeks, not getting an answer so leaving messages with my phone number, student ID number and my course and my query and have heard nothing back. I'm assuming they are just too busy to deal with student queries at the moment. No harm done yet, so not gonna panic too much yet :D

I'm pretty sure it's an admin thing everywhere, applying for my grant currently and the County Council are just as bad.... maybe they just hate me!!!!!

Not making excuses for them, but there has been some musical chairs with the admin in the college over the last few weeks, with moves into new offices etc.

You could try the exams help number as it will ring through a few different numbers for you.

Plan's B, C and D would be to contact the registrar himself, the academic affairs officer or indeed the Students Union to put them onto the case.

If you are not getting answered, it's better that these guys know so they can fix the problems rather than having students accept that level of service.

Thanking you for the advice, will give it another go on Monday morning and see what the story is. I'm sure they will get back to me when they can.

Finally received my registration info this morning in the post, and I even have time to avail of the postal service. Lovely bank giro for €900 included  Stupid County Council who can't get the finger out to provide me with a letter stating I will be in receipt of the grant, so I have to go and pay the stupid money so I will be registered, and then wait until November to get it back. So irritated, and now so broke :(

Anyhow, have to say I'm impressed with the college this year for getting the forms out in time to post back. Makes a change, and long may it continue for the students to come!!! :D

Yeah going into my first year!

That would be the reason so, I would presume. I'm pretty sure ye don't get postal registration anyhow. I remember heading in when I was a first year and handing up my forms and getting my horific picture taken for my student card and all the rest. Think I had only received all my forms etc a week before registration.

Oh and a word of warning, the photo they take of you in first year is going to follow you and haunt you right up until the time you leave!!! So keep that in mind when you are heading in that registration day!!! :D

This happened to me last year, i just waited until i recieved the money from the council to pay the college, i didn't get any hassle about it from the registrars office, they're aware the council are slow at this.

Ive applied for a grant myself...on registration day do I have to either show them a paid grant giro or a letter from the council?

i didnt show them anything i just waited untill grant came through. its not like they come looking for you there is a late fee but it dosnt apply if you get the grant i mean you dont have to pay it yourself. dont worry about it i think they know a lot of people apply for grant and dont bother hounding you. anyway as far as i know the only time it comes up again is if you havent paid you dont get your exam results.

Are you not asked in the registration pack to bring the confirmation letter from VEC/Council or the letter stating that you have been awarded the grant? I know in my pack I was asked for those letters plus sign a declaration that should I not be awarded the grant that I will pay the €900 (luckily I have been awarded :D)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,285 ✭✭✭DancingDaisy

You are indeed asked to bring such letters, but my silly VEC has not yet managed to process my application though they have it a full month at this stage, supposedly they are behind schedule! So no letter for me, and gotta go raid all my savings to pay the stupid thing on monday!

Nope, I remember it took ages after i started last september for it to arrive, when it did i just brought it to the registrars office and that was that sorted, I can't remember exactly how they did it though, maybe someone else can confirm the county council send out a cheque for registation fee's to you??

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,285 ✭✭✭DancingDaisy

I know my council organise the payment to the college themselves. But I got my grant thing today so gonna head up to college on Wednesday with the letter and hopefully it will all be sorted then! Yay!!!

No you shouldn't be worried, I never got mine last year, I had to go to the registars office in the first week. I won't be paying till the 15th, so theres no problem in receiving them late as they're usually very slow.
