Hey, just looking for some help, I moved in to a house about 3 months ago, there was a small spot in a corner of 1 of the bedrooms, I paid no attention to it, moved the bed this morning and the spot is now running about 2 foot down the skirting and the skirting is comming away in my hands (there are heating pipes running down near here), the house is about 30 years old with cavity blocks
The surveyor didnt spot this, do I have any comeback against this (they were recommended to me by rea) or is it time to go through the golden pages looking for a dampproofer

Cant comment on the original survey but u MUST find the source of the damp first so if there are pipes....maybe a plumber.

you can claim off this surveyor only if you bought the house resting soley on his advice and clearance. many cases of this in ireland.. thats why surveyors have very high professional indemnity insurance premiums

you should pay attention to it now - and get it sorted out . the surveyor is not respsonsible for damage caused after his inspection due to your neglect .

got it sorted (small leak in a rad pipe) but there were signs of it when I moved in, if it had been serious, could there have been any claim back

You are looking at legal advice at this stage and unfortunately we do do that here. You could ask in the legal discussion forum if you wished.

As you have now been sorted I'll lock this.
