I watched The Mask the other night and I thought it was very amusing. It wasn't as good as I remembered it but still very funny. I loved him in The Truman Show, probably his best performance. His other films like Dumb and Dumber and Ace Venturer are brilliant too. I've yet to see Eternal Sunshine of The Spotless Mind and The Majestic but I read very positive things about them. Anyone else like him?

    Man on the Moon
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
    The Truman Show
    Dumb and Dumber
    Ace Ventura
    The Majestic
Ace Ventura 2: When Nature Calls

All fantastic films, in that order.

Hmmm, Man On The Moon. I must look into that film.

I prefer Cable guy. Its slightly darker comedy but brilliant. I'd recommend it to you if you have not seen it. And the Number 23 is a very good movie as well.

I forgot about Cable Guy, another good film. I've yet to see Number 23 too.

Man on the Moon is a classic :D

The Majestic and Number 23 aren't his finest pieces tbh but at least he's not afraid to stray from the Ace Venture-type slapstick roles and doesn't pigeon hole himself a la Ben Stiller.

    Carrey? Pah!

He is just a one trick pony who relies on pulling "funny" faces and making stupid noises for a living (he even says so in one of his films).

    So....no. I wouldn't be a fan of his.

 Clearly you've seen the Number 23 and Eternal Sunshine then

I hear that the Number 23 is awful...

I love The Truman Show, modern classic almost.
And when I first saw Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, I was in awe of how original and brilliant any film could be.

His performance in Eternal Sunshine was amazing. Same with the Truman Show. Number 23 had its moments, but doesn't compare to those 2. I still have to check out Man On The Moon. His other movies wouldn't be great imo

    comedies:
    Dumb and Dumber
    Cable Guy
    Ace Ventura
Ace Ventura 2: When Nature Calls
    Liar Liar

    More serious roles
    Man on the Moon
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
    The Truman Show

All great films I must say. The guys one of my favourite actors. Remarkably versatile. Although like all actors he's been in a few dooseys (Batman Forever would be one..) but you can't win 'em all.

His stand up comedy is also worth checking out.

Best line I ever heard him say was,

"you know what I hate, when you having a threesome and the uglier of the two says, save it for me".

ah i think he was the only good part of that movie! it was worth the admission price for the "i am batman" bit....typical carrey! eternal sunshine was unreal, my sister HATES jim carrey but loved that movie! and i like the fact that he doesnt do sequals (ace ventura the exception) likes challenges, and wont rest on his laurels (eddie murphy beverly hills cop 4 anyone?)

"Holy rusted metal Batman!" cancels out "I am Batman".

Ace Ventura was on last night, only watched the start (missed the mental hosptial bit!) but it is still a VERY funny movie, probably his best in my opinion. He is at his best when just doing his own thing.
