    Guys,

I'm sure I'm not the only person who is sick of reading posts on NAT issues.
Can we try to reduce this to a single stickied NAT FAQ thread?

I count 6 NAT threads updated in the last 2 days - all with the same basic advice.

I for one would vote in favour of this measure - once the stickied post is up, any other NAT threads are locked/killed/closed/whatever...

Even more draconian, one could argue the NAT threads belong in the Comms forum. They generally have little to do with playstation news/gossip.

    What do people think?

What should happen regarding NAT threads in PS Forum? 28 votes

    Everything stays like it is...

Single stickied NAT issues thread, all others closed on sight

NAT threads moved to "Net/Comms" forum.

Maybe one thread where the First post gives advice on each Nat type and possibly different routers.

I agree with the sticky idea.
I had problems getting my ps3 from NAT3 to NAT1 and had to wade through a lot of posts after I did a search for solutions. Eventually got it fixed with the help of the youtube video, which should definitely be included in the sticky, along with solutions to port forwarding etc.

    Exactly what i was thinking.

I'm a little reluctant to stick a NAT thread. In my thinking, the less number of stickies, the better.

I'd be in favor of a general PS3 Troubleshooting Thread, however.

if ye just look for that post, where it gave the link to the wee ginger nerd kid. thats what il call him neway.
he solved my nat problem neway. im sure it would work for the majority of people.

Fine by me, as long as all subsequent troubleshooting threads are quashed with a message to ask again in the troubleshooting thread.

The important point is to get rid of the scores of threads on this issue, and replace them with one.

Why isn't there a POLL option for "OMFG Yet Another Poll Thread"???

I agree though, that NAT questions do not belong in the playstation forum. However, you, nor me, are going to stop it happening. Regardless of any rules that are made.

On this, maybe a sticky clean-up is in order - un-sticky old ones about PSP stuff, and combine all the rules/regulations stickies into one sticky...

Doing a bit of a clean up as we speak. PS3 FAQ thread created. If you guys want to help populate it with answers, fill your boots!

Whilst I agree there are too many threads on the issue, I must say that alot of them end in the person sorting the problem so I would hate to see the asking of questions from the ps forum.

BTW, great little contribution from you ravy in the sticky. Easy to understand.

Router in the front room. 40" 1080p tv in the back room, fraid wireless is the only option.

get one of those systems that lets you route your network through the electrical mains

    theyre nice and tidy

you plug a network cable from the router into a special plug, then plug the ps3 into another of the plugs via network cable et voila, an invisible wired network

yeah its called ethernet over mains, they're exppensive though

Dude, NAT has nothing to do with PS3. In fact, you don't even touch the PS3 to fix NAT issues. It's a networking issue.

Now would you like me to go through the rest of your posts and pick holes?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,534 ✭✭✭✭guil

so ya dont configure the connection settings on the ps3 to fix nat issues aswell as the router and i meant he is havin a prob with his ps3 so it belongs in the ps forum

Guys it doesn't matter anymore -the crowd spoke, and we got a NAT faq - so NAT queries should fade away (or be faded away by moderators....)
